SAFETY ASSESSMENT ANALYSIS OF THE N219 AIRCRAFT CROSSWIND LANDING SYSTEMS CONFIGURATION

ABSTRAK :
In showing compliance with CASR part 23.1309, all systems must be evaluated to determine the effect that any hidden or latent failure may have on the continued safe flight and landing of the airplane or the ability of the crew to cope with any adverse conditions that may result from such failures. Therefore, the research attempted to analyze safety assessment on Crosswind landing systems configuration of the systems N219 aircraft using safety assessment process. In this Research, System Assessment process includes Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA) and System Safety Assessment (SSA). The system Assessment methods include Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). This research used this process and methods to identify safety assessment of the system configuration that used by pilot to recover crosswind landing. The effect of crosswind to the N219 aircraft during landing take place to the configuration of Flight Control Systems. Lateral control system, directional control system and flap control system are combination of system to recover crosswind. In addition, The system that involved is VHF communication to information about crosswind component to pilot from Air Traffic control and Landing Gear System to steering aircraft after touchdown (rolling) in runway. The summarize of fault tree analysis shows that the Combination System to recover aircraft during crosswind landing of the N219 aircraft is comply with CASR part 23.1309. This Safety Assessment just judgment follows the system safety assessment (SSA). Therefore, just about capability of system that help pilot to use crosswind landing technique to recover crosswind condition without consideration ability of Pilot. However, this research need further check and test to complete the assessment and satisfy the regulator.
