ABSTRAK :
One of the goals of the technology creation is to make easier for humans to fulfill various life needs. It can be felt and proven by the increasingly demanding of all human needs that are all easy, modern and practice. Making objects, equipment and equipment for human life needs with plastic raw materials is one example of the application of science and technology. The plastic process uses using a vacuum forming method, the results of the vacuum forming method itself will be used as a replacement for airfoils in the aerodynamics laboratory of STT Adisutjipto because the airfoil cannot be reused. The method used in this discussion is the vacuum forming method. Vacuum forming is the process of forming plastic sheets by first heating the plastic sheet and then forming a plastic sheet by vacuuming into the mold according to the product you want to produce. Therefore it is necessary to do a test by varying the temperature at heating the material to know the good soft point. So that the shape produced is in accordance with the mold. The results obtained are the formability of plastic material when heating with temperatures of 150ºC and 175ºC. The plastic does not experience sufficient expansion because the plastic is still rigid or not yet flexible as seen from the length of the widening of the mold which is 14 mm for temperatures of 150 ℃ and 10 mm for 175 ℃. Whereas formability at a temperature of 200 ºC plastic has a good expansion, the plastic can follow the mold well, but there are still cavities on the sides of the mold length of the mold that is 7 mm.
