PENGARUH PERLAKUAN SURFACE MECHANICAL ATTRITION TREATMENT (SMAT) TERHADAP SIFAT MEKANIS BAJA TAHAN KARAT


ABSTRAK
Stainless steel AISI 316L is a metal that effectively developed for biomaterials applications. Several methods have been used to treat correcting weaknesses of 316L stainless steel of which is to work with the method of surface treatment. This study attempts to study the effect of Surface mechanical attrition treatment (SMAT) on microstructure and hardness of stainless steel 316L. SMAT process carried out for 15 minutes using steel balls of diameter 3 / 16 inch number of 250 pieces. The results of this study concluded that the SMAT samplesresulted in smoothing the surface and increase the surface hardness of the sample.
