| There are various development of mobile phones start from the service development up to physical modeling development . The three type of keypad in mobile phones that available in the market today is a touch screen, QWERTY and alphanumeric. The purpose of this research in to determine the usability level of the three types of keypad in mobile phone. A kind of mobile phones that would be tested is Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 represents the touchscreen type, Samsung Omnia Pro B7320 represents the QWERTY type, and Samsung GT-C3322 represents the alphanumeric type. The method used is thinking aloud. The usability’s attributes that analyzed includes the efficient of use, the level of error , level of memorability, and user satisfaction. Nine people of the respondents divides into three age group taken of data on a comment of the respondents of each cellular phones products , the time of completion of a job, the amount of error and subjective satisfaction of the user. The result showed that the alphanumeric type is more usable when viewed from the user’s comments, the efficiency of use, the level of error, and the level of memorability to all age category, then followed with a touchscreen and QWERTY type. In terms of user satisfaction , mobile phone with touchscreen and alphanumeric type is more satisfactory for young age group, whereas for the middle age group was no phone is considered satisfactory. For the older age group, the alphanumeric type is satisfactory. Keyword: Usa |
